Who is Carlton Moore?

Biography (Spiritual)

As a child I always believed in God. I remember being 8 years old and thinking “there is a TV in the living room, there is a car in the driveway, and there is a God in the sky.”

My parents did not attend church, but I’ll be forever grateful they sent me to two Christian summer camps. The first was a day camp, where I heard the totally surprising news of the gospel -- and accepted Jesus as my personal savior at age nine.

The second was Camp Calvary, a sleepaway camp where I received just enough bible teaching to nourish me for each of the next 10 years. Camp Calvary will always feel like home, as much as any place I’ve ever lived.

During college I participated in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, and church has been an integral and essential part of my life ever since. In 2014, I was baptized while living in Chicago. Currently I attend King’s Church in New York, and my favorite part of the Bible has always been the book of Proverbs (which I wholeheartedly recommend reading daily).

Age 16, working as a Junior Counselor
for the younger campers.

Soon after graduating from Stanford, I began my career in the financial industry, working as a stock analyst for Morningstar.

Because I came from a household where money was often tight, I would have been happy to work in a cubicle for 40 years, so long as there was enough to raise a family without having to worry. But God had a different plan.

From the moment I earned my first “adult paycheck,” I always put as much income as possible into select individual stocks. Although I transitioned from the finance industry to working in sales at Google, I continued to put everything I had learned about the stock market into practice, including investing every penny I could.

By 2017, my savings had grown far beyond what I ever hoped to possess in life, and the annual returns from my stock investments had become larger than my salary at Google. Eventually I chose to “retire” at the age of 31, with plans to devote all my time to volunteering and philanthropy. The early years of that journey are written at LifeAndTheMarket.com.

The Next Chapter

In 2021, God gave me a vision for a way to make a bigger impact, through “Kingdom Wealth Building.” Among everything I’ve ever tried to do to honor the blessing of early retirement, this stands out as something God has specifically called me to. I hope that if you’ve made it to this page and have read this far, God will eventually speak to you about a way to help this mission move forward.

Thank you in advance,
